Hi, this is Lee Young-Ae.

Hello everyone, I’d been meaning to send greetings to you all, but I’m still somewhat unfamiliar with internet bulletin boards, so please understand if I sound a bit awkward or stiff.

Right now I’m writing from my room. The shooting starts tomorrow. I hope that all our Dae Jang Geum staffs will finish shooting safely and smoothly.

May this board become a warm and comforting space for you. I’ll listen to your words and reflect upon myself too.

Hello everyone, this must be the last time I will greet you as Jang-Geum. I guess I was deeply absorbed in Jang-Geum too. Sorry about my belated message.

Looks like the time has finally arrived to let go of Jang-Geum, whose life I have lived with all my heart for so long. It’s too difficult for me to leave her behind alone. Even though we may forget Jang-Geum as time goes on, she will continue to go her way as she has so far.

I would like to thank Jang-Geum, who had been buried in history for hundreds of years and came back to awaken me to many valuable truths, as well as all Dae Jang Geum viewers, from our children who saw Dae Jang Geum through with Jang-Geum-like curiosity, to our loving grandmothers and grandfathers.

I’m also deeply grateful to all Dae Jang Geum staffs, including Lee Byeong-Hoon the producer, Kim Young-Hyeon the scriptwriter, and the rest of the staffs and fellow actors. Looking back, it was tough yet enjoyable time.

I wish all you Dae Jang Geum viewers health and happiness. I hope that you will always remember to cheer up like Jang-Geum even in hard times.

With that, Jang-Geum bids farewell to you.

  8. I love the show soooo much. I admire Jang Geum as a person and I must say that you are a great actress for playing the role so well. I am already in the withdrawal stage now with the show ending tomorrow. I am going to buy the DVDs and will watch it again and again. Young Ae, you rock!!

    Jang geum friensdhip with yong seng really touching me, i cry when watching the scene….
    jang geum relationship with madam han so touchful
    beside that i also like min jin hyo, the way he love jang geum so touching
    i also like to see the food , seem like delicious and learn many thing from this drama like medical and spirit never give up
    This is the best korean drama i ever watch and i already it for many times.

  15. Dae Jang Geum is the best drama i’d ever watched. Not only that i’m watching the DVD for 2nd time, i also follow with the Singapore cable vision now. My friends almost finish the series for the past two days after I keep telling this is a very good drama and will not regret to watch. I hope that the actors & actess will come to Singapore & Malaysia soon.

    you did well….But……..the ending could have been a little more exciting.
    Jang Geum is portrayed as a nice lady ……. but why is she so lucky all the way?
    Her sufferings are always temporarily and she is always blessed one way or the other. Wish the writer could be natural to portray the flip side of Jang Guem, thus allowing you to show your other skills in acting.

    The success of Dae Jang Guem lies in the people who acted along with you
    and because this whole drama is about one person who managed to
    survive all hardship, it is natural to read feedbacks only about you.
    I think all the actors and actresses have played very well too.
    They may not be interested to read this website because no body have
    given their views about them. To those who have not been congratulated,
    I wish to say…. you all have been trememdously talented !

HI, Im from the philippines, jewel in the palace is sched to be shown here by mid oct, but I was already able to watch all of it coz korean telenovela are very popular here in the Phil. the VCD is already available, I was shocked to know that it was so long, but when I started it, I would never miss a single part, coz everything was so interesting. I find all the actors very good especially lee young-ae. If compared to a book, it is a page-turner. I was deeply moved by scenes of Madam Han & Jang guem especially the time when they learned the truth of jangguem being the daughter of the friend of Lady Han. I salute all of you. I am sure then when it will be shown here in the Philippines, it would be a HIT. CONGRATULATIONS!!

  26. I’m from Chicago. We enjoyed Dae Janggeum so much we had to tape it whenever we are not home to watch it. We would not allow any phone calls interrup our watching. We love it so much we bought the whole set of DVDs. I watch it over and over especially the scenes of Janggeum and Min Jung Ho being passionate to one another, whenever Janggeum overcomes a hardship and Sir Min is there for her.
    Thank you for an very beautiful, inspiring, and different kind of drama. Lee Young- ae and Ji Jin Hee and the others are very good actors. Congratulations.

  27. Whenever there is a meal that requires creativity in cooking, I always say what will Jang-Geum do to make it taste good. Lee Young-ae’s acting is so moving that I always think of her in my everyday life. Jang-Geum’s hardships, how she overcame them and how Sir Min was always there for her makes me feel very fortunate and blessed with what I have. Thank you for a very entertaining and uplifting story. Sir Min and Jang-Geum are a perfect pair. I am from the Chicago area, USA. I went to the fan club meeting at a korean restaurant for the final episode. It was fun to see and meet other fans. We love you here Lee Young-ae. Come to Chicago sometime. Bring Ji Jin Hee.

  31. I’ve seen other shows Lee Young-Ae starred in which were good performances but they did not leave any lasting impression, probably because of the scripts.. Dae Jang Geum has been brought to life by your excellent acting which cements your position as a top world actress. I hope you’ll continue to work on good scripts and do get married so that you’ll produce Young Ae juniors to share with the world.

  33. I giv u all a clue im younger than lee young ae by 10 yrs n im playing runescape, neopets, battleon, puzzle pirates n stuff lol but One thing is 4 sure
    I always watch d same episode 2 times Once in d evening once d nxt day at 2pm Lol i only started watching it at episode 39 I got sohooked that i borrowed d 1st 10cds from my friend who got hooked whithin a minute lol

    Im goin 2 borrow more cds n mayb even buy it 4 myself da changjin although i just met lee young ae I think she looks funny in other movies n suits this 1 d best lol im too used to chat language :) sometimes i even go 2 d extreme: watch da changjin, eat lunch/dinner n play computer all at once lol I even forsake my cca sumtimes just 2 watch :o any way i got hooked after watching that one epsode. I think d one when min jungho go n scold chanjin then turn bak n suddenly laugh is so funny lol n d one when lady min became top lady n hug changjin when changjin just said,”hello”

  34. Hi,I nvr watched Korean show and I thought this drama would be a normal boring drama. Pardon me and the cover of the DVD was dull BUT i was proven wrong. This drama rocks. The story line is great. Your acting skills is simply superb and you are beautiful. The drama vision is always lingering in my mind. Keep up the good work.

  48. hi Young-Ae.in the past,i don noe wats the fuss from dae jang guem.then i was able to catch up on the drama after it is starting to be aired on tv on cable television in singapore due to high demands.wow.wasn’t the plot fantastic…and i muz say korean actors n actresses act veri well.they r veri emotional n composed in front of the camera.though im stil onli in the 17 episode of the drama,impression is left deep in mind.

    anywaiz i wanted to watch an episode in korean and hear wat ur voice sounded like but sadly the only word i know in korean is ‘pyumbi’… sigh* blame my korean friend…. o well i still like watchin it in cantonese! me and my family all sit and watch it every nite and since im the youngest, if theres a phone call i haf to go and get it….very not fair…. ur a realli gud actor!!! by da way im 12yrs old…. almost 13…..

  59. Jewel in the Palace is the first Korean drama I have ever watched. I am totally mesmorised by this wonderful story! The leading artistes Lee Young Ae & Ji Jin Hee are great! The entire cast acted very well! I loved the Da Jang Geum Special II; it was so nice to see the artistes talked about their shooting experiences during DJG! Hope to see Ji Jin Hee in person on 3rd December when he comes to Singapore to promote his new movie!

  63. I usually don’t like to watch Korean dramas but this one really got me hooked and change my perception! I love it. I loved the characters, the main ones and the minor ones…all of the actors/actresses in the cast are superb…the story both intriquing and inspiring…scenaries beautiful

Like us,we can’t stand out and talk. LIke us, we are still not really the same as boys or men. Hi again Young-ae, I’m Benjie and I must say that getting the whole DVDs 19 discs in 70 episode sure is unregrettatble thing for me, I though I will have to finish it this summer since each disc will consume about three hours each, however it only took me a week evernthough I have to watch it until 2:30 in the morning just to continue watching and seeing your face and your “very cute” expressions.   112. Hi! I have a copy of Jewel in the Palace (JIP). We are fortunate here in the Phils. we can buy Korean series. I love it so much, I learned a lot about health tios and even applied them. JIP has all the qualities of a good series, it transcends all economic strata of the soicety. My friends and relatives realize now why I love Korea so much. I went there 2 times, 2002 and 2004 and kept talking about Korea. Now, they know why, from the faces of the Koreans, the depth of their acting, to the location shoots, to the food, to the health knowledge, Koreans are just marvelous just like the Chinese!     5. Is it true that Geum Young leaves the palace and banned by Royal Palace and Jang Geum Married with Min Jung Ho.
    6. How old, when Jang Geum has a child in 1550 ? and is there So Won’s clan now ? ( I fell so close with this year, only 456 years old to this year and 220 years from King 4th in Chosun’s Dynasty, compare with age of this world. I write this because I want to measure a human life and this world. I don’t know why i fell it.)
    7. If there is novel or anything about Jang Geum’s life, please send to INDONESIA to translate (I’m begging you, please) ?

  135. I always watched telenovelas, but Jewel in the Palace is different and par excellence. During the first episodes, I said to myself I’m not going to watch it because I’go to bed early. But my children watch it pretending to be doing their homeworks in front of the TV. I tried to watch it during friday nights when I can afford to stay late in bed the following morning. Then it all started, my enthusiam to watch each episode started. I was mesmerized by Jewel in the Palace. The cast portrayed their roles very well. I can’t afford missing each episode because it delivers moral lessons, from human relations to politics. Jewel in the Palace is not just a soap opera. It is about governance and accountability, power play, graft and corruption - all exemplified in the happenings inside the Palace. At the same time, the viewers were taught certain virtues and moral values spiced with Korean History and delicious Korean Cuisine and herbal medication. Lee young Ae did give justice to the character of Dae Jang Geum. Had it been anny other actresses there would have been different perception to the show. Great Telenovela.

    I watched the “Jewel In The Palace” on SCV, Singapore and was very touched by the courages Janggeum performed by you. This drama gave me a lot of motivation and inspiration as I was having lots of difficulties at work.

    An nyeung ha shim ni kka. I wanted to tell you how much seeing Dae Jang Geum has meant to me. I was born in Seoul, Korea to a Korean mother and American Indian father who served in the US Air Force in Korea. Although I was born in Korea, I have not been there since I was a very young girl. Because of this, I have had very little connection to my mother’s Korean family, culture and language, and have lived in America for most of my life. I have been overjoyed to find this show and am very sad to hear that it will no longer be in production.
    Watching you and the others on Dae Jang Geum has meant so much to me because it instills in me, so much pride in being of Korean ancestry. It also serves to remind me of the strength, beauty and history of Korean people, particularly it’s remarkable women.
    I also love watching Dae Jang Geum, because I can see the faces of my beloved mother and grandmother in each of these wonderful and complex characters.
    Thank you for so aptly portraying the grace, beauty and strength of Korean women and people. Kam sa ham ni da.

    Let me introduce myself my name is double 25 from Singapore. I Just finish watched the drama. Is indeed very touching. I am a very egoistic and evil person in the show. Like Choi brother. After finish watch this drama I feel so sad that I reflected in my life. I lost all my evil thought and wanted to change and forgive all the people who hurt me.
    I must tell you this thing; I have a friend, his guy. But He really look like the jang geum in the show. When he smile it look really like jang geum. I not saying 100% at least 95% similar. But he heart is as pure as her. I know this person in my army life. Because of me I get him into a lot of deep shit yet he still helped me when I need help.
    Once incident happen in the army, when both of us were assign together in a mission. Yes only both of us. He ask me to look after his rifle, I agree but I just did not care about it and continue to sleep. Worse still when I saw my sergeant coming our direction I forgot about his rifle. You know in army lost rifle is a very serious offence. That damn sergeant took away our rifle and punished us by burning our weekend in the company doing COS( a duty) Only two of us in the company on the Saturday day while every booking out to enjoy their weekend.
    Worse still while during our COS there only a bed! I tell him we take turn to sleep, but how evil am I just sleep all the way. Even he try to wake me up I ignore him.
    After we pass out from there we go to a new course but we still need to stay in, something when he can get to go out, he always would me what I want to eat. Usually I tell him to buy Mac Donald back but I always try to pretend to return him the money.
    Once I got a very stupid duty on Saturday. I really can’t do it on that day. No one wants to help me but he volunteered to burn his Saturday.
    After I watch finished the whole show dae jang geum. I really feel very bad and almost cried but I didn’t.
